Jean Taylor Biography
Jean’s inspiration to become an artist is rooted in witnessing her elder relatives creating as she was growing up. Paintings of snowshoes, mukluks and moccasins were favorite subjects. Her favorite activity as a child was drawing and her mother commented that she was drawing as soon as she could hold a pencil. Jean began showing her work in 2002.
Training
In addition to regular art classes in High School, Jean joined Ted Harrison’s art class at the Yukon Technical Vocational Training Centre for a few months. Following years of employment; she indulged her interest in art by participating in a variety of art workshops in various mediums. Acrylic paint emerged as a favorite and she focused in on attending Scottsdale Art School in Phoenix Arizona. To expedite learning, Jean studied with some artists she admired who were willing to mentor. Jean continues to keep a sharp eye out for learning opportunities in art.
